Alex Reubert began his publishing career as a bookseller in Brooklyn and Jersey City. He interned with New Directions and W.W. Norton & Company and spent five years as an international book scout, then literary agent, at Greenburger Associates before joining HG Literary in 2024. He graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Georgia.

Alex represents a variety of adult fiction and nonfiction. In literary fiction, he especially loves books that are style forward, poignant, or funny, ideally all three. He’s looking for character-driven upmarket novels with a strong sense of pace and place, including those that carefully blend genre. In the commercial realm, he is seeking writers with a passion for structure and a unique voice, be it romantic comedy, mystery, historical, speculative, horror, suspense, or fantasy. For nonfiction, he is particularly drawn to projects about music, film, literature, and food, including cookbooks. Biography, history, journalism, and criticism are welcome too, as are accessible takes on science, business, and philosophy.

His clients have been published in the New Yorker, the Paris Review, Granta, Bookforum, Harper’s, and the New York Times Book Review. They have been finalists for the PEN/Hemingway, Center for Fiction First Novel, and Republic of Consciousness awards, and nominated for Pushcart and Whiting awards, among others.
