ShinYeon Moon (Shin) is a Korean-American educator and illustrator based in New York. She holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts for Illustration as Visual Essay from 2017. Shin currently teaches BFA Illustration at the School of Visual Arts and the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Shin's debut illustrated picture book, LAOLAO'S DUMPLINGS (Henry Holt and Company/Macmillan 2023), received starred reviews from Publisher's Weekly and Horn Books. Her other titles include ONCE UPON A FRIEND (Henry Holt and Company/Macmillan 2024) and CHESS MATES (Heggerty Phonemic Awareness 2021).
Along with picture books, Shin is an enthusiast and collector of zines and artist's books. She also enjoys dabbling in different kinds of crafts and hobbies - her current obsession includes whittling and needle-felting fun characters.
